Trucks, Trucks, Truck - Bypass Extention

The Markham Bypass Extension is currently being studied by the Region of York who have retained McCormick Rankin Corporation. The study for a north- south transportation link in the southeast York Region / northeast Toronto area has been ongoing for the past thirty years.

The most recent transportation work defining the need for a continuous arterial link between southeast York Region and northeast Toronto was completed in conjunction with the OMB Hearing on the Morningside Heights subdivision in 1998. This study, entitled “Morningside Corridor Need and Justification Review” was completed by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing. This study concluded that a continuous major arterial roadway serving local, regional and inter-regional trips connecting Highway 401 to the future Markham Bypass is justified. The OMB decision identified an area to be protected until an EA could be carried out.
