you are here: home > March 1st Storm Events PowerStream was busy with the March 1st Ice StormThe ice and strong winds on March 1, 2007 caused havoc with the overhead wires, but PowerStream was able to keep up and restored power quickly. Here is a list of the events.
1. CNR tracks Bayview south of John (Markham) - 2 broken poles, wires across tracks - 51M2 (2683 customers including 900 out of Morgan MS)
2. Woodbine south of Denison (Markham) - 3 broken poles, 2 Transformers on ground - 22M1, 26M7, 26M5, 22M6 (total of 7000 customers includes Amber MS, John MS)
3. Old Kennedy Road south of Denison (Markham) - 3 broken poles, 1 Transformer on ground
4. Warden & Denison - Broken pole (floating) feeder still in,
5. Thornhill feeder 36M8 (Markham) – trees on line on Langstaff and balloons wrapped around conductor – 800 customers affected.
6. Weston Road north of Steeles (Vaughan) – 3 poles broken and the 21M4 and 21M8 tripped off line affecting 5800 customers.
7. Weston Road north of Hwy 7 – 2 poles broken and the 21M3 tripped off line affecting 700 customers.
8. Hwy 27 and King Vaughan Line – 1 pole broken and line on road – 50 customers affected.
9. Church and Lorne (Richmond Hill) – Tree on line caused 27M3 to trip off line affecting 2270 customer.
