Mayor Frank Scarpitti's Remarks about the Grant

I am pleased to advise you that our application for the Municipal Infrastructure Investment Initiative (MIII) has been approved.

I am extremely gratified that the entire amount of $4.5 million is being forwarded to be used for the Markham Cycling and Pathway System - 2008

I was interfacing with both MPP
Heleana Jaczek and Minister Michael Chan in an effort to get this approved. I wish to thank and acknowledge them for their strong support of this project.

I would also like to thank staff for the preparation of the grant application and the time frame in which it was delivered.

I want to thank all Members of Council for their strong support of this project and for our bold approach in applying for the entire value of the project.

We were up against a long list of applicants and the total project value of all the applications was more than $1 billion.
