It's the Litter Season again

April 1, 2008

Each year with the coming of spring and the melting of snow, By-law Staff in the field are assigned to specific areas of the Town. Within each area, a staff member monitors properties to ensure that the garbage, debris, etc. left after the melting snow is removed.

The clean-up work begins in earnest once the ground has dried sufficiently to allow for raking etc. without the damaging the grass. With lands under public ownership, staff communicate directly with Operations Staff by identifying locations requiring clean-up.

The Town is also introducing a new staff person this year to address property standard issues along the main roads in Markham. This person will be assigned to ensure private property and buildings are in conformity with the Town’s Property Standards By-law.

If you find that certain properties are not addressed, please contact me so I can ensure staff have investigated the location.
