July 30, 2010
In order to safely and efficiently install a deep sanitary sewer crossing Cornell Centre Boulevard and to service the Cornell Community Area 5, it will be necessary to temporarily close Cornell Centre Boulevard from Hwy. #7 to 16th Avenue from August 16 to September 1, 2010. The depth of the sewers (8 meters), width of the excavation, size of equipment required and the existing width of the existing Cornell Centre Boulevard, make it impossible to install without the temporary road closure.
Road closure notices will be placed in the local paper on the “Town page” for two consecutive weeks in advance of the closure. Road Closure Notice signage indicating the period of the closure shall be installed along Hwy #7, 16th Avenue, Cornell Centre Boulevard and on intersecting streets, two weeks in advance of the closure.
All emergency services and operational authorities will be advised on the planned road closure and duration . Road closure and detour signage is to be installed in accordance with the requirements of the Ontario Traffic Manual and a road closure/traffic management plan as approved by the Town.
Residents within the Cornell Communities will have access to their homes at all times.
