Noise Barrier on the 9th Line

As the completion of the 9th Line nears completion, one of the last, and perhaps the most important items is the Sound Barriers for the residents who back onto the Ninth Line.

I held a public meeting with the Region and the Regional Councillors to individually speak to the residents who will be affected.  With the help of the Sherwood Amber Glen Ratepayer's Association, we have asked the region to include a few extra residences, and they have, for the most part, agreed.

Following is the status of the project from the Senior Project Manager for York Region, Mr. Edward Chiu, P.Eng:

• 28 out of 110 property owners attended the Resident Workshop
• Since the Resident Workshop, 64 private meetings or package dropped off with the residents were undertaken
• 18 out of 110 property owners could not be contacted or did not call back
• 43 out of 110 property owners provided the signed Permission to Enter form

The target for going out to construction is September and we are working to meet this timeline.  We are also fine tuning the contact package based on discussion with the owners in order to minimize impacts to shed, pools, etc. where possible.
