Will the 9th Line ever get finished?

October 18, 2009

The construction has been slowed down this year by the number of days that the weather prohibited major work to be done.  The process of working after an area has been rough paved is one that always bothers me, but I’m told that it is because of different contractors doing different work, and they don’t want to leave it undone waiting for the next contractor to begin.  I know it’s a lame excuse, but I have tried many times to see if the coordination can’t be better.  Unfortunately, road building is tremendously complicated and there are so many players, from the different utilities and the different regulatory bodies, that we end up with a circle of digging and paving.  At times we can coordinate it, but the crossing of the 9th Line at Highway 7 has been a mess.  I look forward to it being completed by this fall.

Next spring, they will be digging up the boulevard on the east side of 9th Line north of Number 7 to install a pipe.  At least this will not affect the pavement.
