Residents Say "No" to Overnight Parking.

The Town of Markham has recently requested the residents of the Cornell community to provide feedback regarding a proposal to extend the Overnight Parking Permit Program within the Cornell community.  The proposed program would allow the residents of Cornell, who reside in areas not currently approved for permit parking, to park on the street overnight between the hours of 2:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. provided a valid permit has been obtained.

The Town received 44 resident responses regarding this issue.  Of the total responses, 30 residents (68%) advised that they are not in favour of the proposal to extend the Overnight Parking Permit Program in Cornell.  Based on this feedback, Staff is recommending to Town of Markham Council that no further action be taken at this time.

The above mentioned recommendation will be brought before General Committee on Monday, December 3, 2007 at 9:00 a.m.  Members of the public are welcome to make written or in-person representations regarding this issue.  For further information, please contact the Clerk’s Department at 905-477-7000, ext. 4290 or craynor@markham.ca.

A copy of the staff report can be obtained by contacting the Clerk’s Department at the Town of Markham, or viewed on the Town web site at www.markham.ca as of November 28, 2007.

Thank you for taking the time to respond with your feedback.  For further information regarding overnight parking or the results of the resident response initiative please contact the Town of Markham By-law Enforcement & Licensing Division at 905-477-7000, ext. 2596 or bciotti@markham.ca.
