ISSUE 4: Transit needs improving

We’ve worked to develop a new transit system. Presently the long bus routes start in our area. So the buses start empty, and slowly fill up as they move towards their distant destinations. We’re changing that by using smaller shuttles on new routes to pick up passengers to feed the new VIVA system.

  • I intend to fight for the integration of York Region’s Transit system with the GO and TTC systems. It’s a must! We need a rapid public transit system to move people to and from work and school, without the use of a car.

Transit figures are In

More transit users means less cars on the road.

Our year-end numbers are in and 2006 ridership reached 17.1 million, representing a 12.4% increase over the previous year.  This translates to some 70,000 fare-paying passengers using our services each weekday.
